american dream

I really do agree with what ms.barrios was saying about how the american dream isnt just one dream, but multiples. The three dreams believed to drive people toward america is The Eldarado, where people search for money and pride, The fountain of youth, where people come to start over and begin anew, and The city upon a hill, where the escape the corruption of the home land and become pure when they step into america. I believe that the american dream really involves all of them because one does not thrive for something because of one flaw. People want to change many flaws within themselves. I believe the dream that sticks out the most is The fountain of youth. The fountain of youth speaks out to me because many people go to new places to begin anew and start a new life with new begginings, trials, problems, etc. The fountain of youth is what drives people to want to come to america. New begginings is the present one always asks for.

Freedom Riders on to Route 40

This photograph is about hope, defeat, and determination. The picture is of a woman or young girl sitting solemnly while grasping the hands of a lighter tone person(assumed to be white). The picture shows defeat because of the body language seem in the young woman contrasting with hope from the grasping of the hands of the lighter skin tones. The message of this photograph is keep the hope no matter what skin color you are. Both texts show the uniformity of differences between colors

This installation is about rising going up with the different tones of colors rising up hence “lift” creating the message that you are the same no matter what tone you are. The foreground of the picture is airplanes symbolizing the ability to transcend and become the same. The white color at the tip of the installation suggests a blankness and the same. Different colors do not determine the real true person you are
